Rosca and Dane Wedding

What seemed to have been an overcast day turned out to be a sunny affair, as we drove into the divine Stellenbosch with its mountain views and greenery lurking at every corner. Even with the sun showing off, the crisp of the air didn’t hesitate to bite through the morning breeze.

We were welcomed with smiles and a warm “Good morning, are you here for Rosca and Dane’s wedding?”. The atmosphere screamed romance, with the fairy lights carrying through in the direction of the loft-style chapel – which happened to be gracefully located in the attic of the venue.

The feeling of “I’m home” carried through to the area where Rosca and her family were – a hustle and bustle of hair, make-up, outfits and “Mommy, where did you put my shoes?”. We arrived in the midst of it all but still, everything felt completely normal. This was the atmosphere we predicted – “Rosca’s getting married!”

The bride was graceful in her approach to every person that surrounded her. As the strokes of  the makeup artists’ brush gently brushed over her face, she couldn’t help but hum to the hymns playing in the distance through a very colourful yet basic speaker box – showing hints of a youthful bride about to get married. The mother of the bride was a colourful, elegant sight and showered everyone around her with her certainty of who she was and who she represented – a Queen handing her daughter over to a sweet new chapter.

It was apparent that the groom was content, prepared for the day that lay ahead and to see his soon to be wife. He welcomed us with a smile and stepped into character – ready to be photographed. His groomsmen represented him in a way that spoke of brotherly love – another indication that family is a priority.

Time drew closer to the hour that awaited these two beautiful souls uniting in holy matrimony and the guests were eager to get first hand eyes on the bride. The moment arrived where Rosca gracefully made her way up a collection of stairs and the gasps of her guests were heard instantaneously. She was a sight! With her head-wrap secure, flowers in hand and beaded dress with its low-back cut showing off her tattoo, the walk down the aisle was a moment never to be forgotten.

Capturing the essence of a family bond that showcased throughout the day was a breath of fresh air. Creativity carried through the guests with their unique attire which complimented the couple’s personalities. The love spoken in the speeches were humbling and stood out in more ways than one.

Tarryn from Marry Me by TK – SA’s most loved local and destination wedding planner – had the entire day running smoothly, even when there seemed to be a hiccup, she handled it with grace and absolute professionalism.

With every wedding encountered, a new experience is made and taken. This wedding made us think a little deeper about the essence of family and despite the obstacles, sticking together makes the load feel lighter.
